Dr. Burak Önvural was born in Izmir in 1981. He completed his high school education
at Izmir Özel Türk Koleji Anadolu Lisesi in 1999. After graduating from Ege
University Faculty of Medicine in 2006, he completed his specialization in
Orthopedics and Traumatology at Izmir Tepecik Training and Research Hospital,
becoming an Orthopedic and Traumatology specialist in 2012.

Knee Replacement
Knee replacement is a procedure in which the damaged surface of the knee joint is completely or partially replaced with an artificial joint, usually in progressive joint diseases such as knee osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis. Knee replacement can also be applied in cases of serious knee injuries. This procedure alleviates pain and improves mobility, significantly enhancing patients' quality of life. Knee replacement surgery is typically performed under general anesthesia. Firstly, the damaged tissue is removed, and the bone ends shaping the knee joint are smoothed. Then, the prosthesis, usually made of metal and plastic, is placed. The leading implant brands include Zimmer Biomet, DePuy Synthes, Stryker, and Smith & Nephew. Each offers different types of prostheses and technologies to provide the most suitable solution for the patient's needs and lifestyle. The operation usually lasts 1-2 hours.

Hip Replacement
Hip replacement surgery is a procedure in which a
part or all of the severely arthritic hip joint is replaced with
an artificial joint. This procedure can vary depending on the
patient's age and overall health condition, in terms of the
prosthesis used and the material of the prosthesis. Ceramic
prostheses are generally preferred for young patients, while
prostheses made from a special plastic called polyethylene are
used for older patients.
Hip replacement surgery can also be an option for patients with
hip fractures. In this case, partial or total hip replacement
can be applied depending on patient's age and severity of the
fracture.
Foot and Ankle Surgery
Foot and ankle surgery encompasses surgical
procedures performed to treat various problems related to the
foot and ankle. These problems include joint disorders,
osteoarthritis, rheumatic diseases, gait abnormalities, diabetic
foot problems, ingrown toenails, and various congenital or
acquired deformities. Foot fractures are also among the issues
encountered in the field of foot and ankle surgery. The foot
consists of 29 bones and 33 joints, and some fractures may
require surgical intervention.
Heel fractures are common and challenging fractures in foot and
ankle surgery. They often occur as a result of falls from a
height. In the past, surgical treatment options were limited,
but in recent years, surgical operations have been successfully
used for treatment.
